Apple Launches Apple Intelligence
Apple Launches Apple Intelligence
On Monday, Apple released iOS 18.1. This version of the iOS is an update for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro that includes the first-ever public version of Apple Intelligence. Alongside the iOS 18.1, Apple also released software updates for iPad and Mac that also feature the Apple Intelligence, Apple’s artificial intelligence system.
Apple has achieved a significant milestone with the launch of this feature, leveraging this release to drive its marketing efforts for the iPhone 16 series that was introduced last month. To install and use Apple Intelligence, you need to own an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max or any iPhone 16 model.
Apple Intelligence Features
Apple Intelligence is currently in its early stages. The initial wave of Apple Intelligence capabilities includes writing tools for proofreading and text revision, advanced features for object removal from photos, and a feature to summarize multiple notifications into a single message.
Some investors believe that Apple Intelligence could have a major impact on Apple, cementing its leadership in the daily usage of cutting-edge AI. While some Apple users expected Siri to be able to take actions inside of apps, it doesn't. But such a feature is reportedly coming next year as an update for iPhone devices. In the coming iOS 18.2 later this year, there will be another update with ChatGPT and image-generation abilities
“Given the staggered launch of Apple Intelligence, we expect iPhone demand to pick up post initial release of Apple Intelligence in late Oct,” Bank of America Securities analyst Wamsi Mohan wrote in an Oct. 25 note.
The Apple Intelligence is Apple’s answer to Wall Street’s questions about its AI strategy. Apple has taken a different path with its device-based AI than its megacap rivals, which identifies the reason it works differently. Apple Intelligence primarily uses the iPhone’s chip, which is why iPhone users owning earlier phones don't have access to Apple Intelligence, though some more complex queries are handled by Apple’s servers.
To install Apple Intelligence, iPhone users need to turn it on by requesting access to it in the Settings app. Doing this includes them on a waitlist. Although Apple hasn't specified the length of the wait, it is believed that, just as iPhone users received access to Apple Intelligence during the beta tests over the summer, Apple would also grant all iPhone users access to Apple Intelligence on the same day. When that happens, large files called Apple AI models would be downloaded by your device because such files are needed by Apple Intelligence in other to operate.
Due to the update, there is a major change that users would quickly notice - Siri has a new text interface. This would enable iPhone users to easily access Siri by swiping upward from the bottom of the screen without having to speak out loud. Apple’s Writing Tools will also show up in any place in the operating system as long as you can enter text, even non-Apple apps have been granted access to Apple's Writing Tool. Highlighted text can be rewritten or paraphrased into a concise, professional or friendly style - as selected.
Apple Intelligence is Apple's headstart in the AI market. Things seem to be going well on their side, and it all looks like a brilliant marketing strategy focused on increasing the demand for iPhone devices compatible with Apple Intelligence. So far, it offers great writing tools and other favorable features like the notification summary feature and photo object removal feature. In the end, iPhone users will be met with exciting features and relaxing experiences from the Apple Intelligence leading to an increase in the popularity and demand of newer iPhones.
